Visiting NYC this Fall? Lucky you! There are two times during the year when the weather is ripe for outdoor activities and celebrations. Fortunately, one of those amazing times of the year is now. Grab your lederhosen and get ready to celebrate Oktoberfest, Manhattan-style.

NYC is not typically associated with this lively Bavarian festival, but once you have your favorite beer in hand, you'll have arrived. The main event takes place in Central Park on September 16th with satellite events popping up throughout the month. Munich on the East River is from September 29th to October 8th, and Watermark’s Oktoberfest occurs from September 29th through October 2nd.

Little Known Fact: The original festival was held to celebrate the marriage of Bavarian Prince Ludwig to Princess Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen in 1810. Festivities took place between October 12th through the 17th, but the date changed to accommodate the cooler temperatures in the states. Now beer lovers can participate starting in the third week of September. So, get ready to grab a pretzel and dance the polka!
